Much of the wood used in cabinets, doors and windows, furniture, etc., is harvested in an unsustainable way, contributing to the global forest destruction and to global warming and climate change.
To avoid it, buy wood products certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), that is, with their seal (shown in the image).
In order to achieve the FSC certification, forest owners should respect local ecosystems (native forest species, watersheds, soils…), the sustainability of their forests, support fair labor practices or avoid the use of dangerous chemicals.
