Hearth-Mount Stoves
To upgrade a traditional and inefficient masonry fireplace you have two major options: a certified and advanced fireplace insert (which may be pellet, gas or wood fueled) or a hearth-mount stove. Hearth-mounts are alternatives to fireplace inserts.
What is a hearth-mount?
Basically a hearth-mount is a wood stove partially or totally mounted inside a fireplace, or in front of it, using the fireplace throat for venting.
Hearth mount stoves and venting
Hearth mount stoves should be vented through the fireplace chimney, using a full liner running continuously to the top of that chimney.
Hearth mount Stove efficiency
Hearth mount stoves are efficient upgrades to traditional fireplaces, as efficient as fireplace inserts, or more. Just take into account the rules and basics related with wood stoves. And demand a certified unit.
