Quarry tile is a traditional product, made from natural clay or shale, squeezed, pressed and then fired. Quarry tile technology has hundreds of years…
Characteristics
Quarry tiles are naturally resistant to slipping, chipping and scratching, but they are also rather porous and prone to stains (quarry tile is softer than other ceramic tiles). To prevent moisture and stains, use a penetrating sealer (follow the manufacturer instructions).
Uses
Though quarry tiles can be used in indoor residential floor applications, they are mostly used in outdoor settings, namely in high-traffic commercial applications such as restaurants and other commercial surfaces.
Prices
Quarry tile is a cheap option, which is the main reason for their extensive use.
Colors
Earth tones, between the orange-red and the brown are the most common colors. White and black colors are also available. To get a more specific and unusual aesthetical effect, you may use a colored grout.
