Custom
vs Standard Garage Doors
There are some standard sizes for garage doors, and if your
garage opening match those sizes, so much the better. Standard
sizes are cheaper and may help on possible future repairs…
Standard
garage doors
Standard garage doors include:
7 feet height (2,44m)
Single car: 8x7, 9x7, 10x7 feet (2.13x2.5, 2.75x2.5, 3x2.5
meters)
Double car (two car garages): 12x7, 14x7, 16x7, 18x7 feet
(3.65x2.5, 4.25x2.5, 4.88x2.5 meters)
Cart: 5x7; 6x7 feet (1.5x2.5, 2.13x2.5 meters)
8 feet (2,44 m) height is also very common, and may also
be considered as standard.
Some manufacturers have
some particular door garage models with their own standard width
and height sizes.
Custom Size & Door Garages
If
you need a garage door with non-standard sizes, that’s not a
big problem: most manufacturers produce doors in custom widths with
an additional up-charge. You just have to measure your opening
and take the measurements to the manufacturer, or to a local
specialized store (or a big chain as Lowe’s or Home Depots).
