Types of INFRARED space heaters

Ceramic, quartz and metal sheath space heaters are all infrared space heaters. They all emit special infrared waves (long wavelength), and the differences between them is that the electricity they use heats a ceramic core, a quartz tube or lamp, or a metallic coil.

Metal sheath are the most traditional and typical type of infrared space heaters. Ceramic heaters are the newer and the more efficient of these types of infrared heaters.

Infrared space heater features

Any type of infrared space heater can use a fan (or not), and the most modern models involve dozen of features, namely a thermostat with at least two or three settings - a particularly important feature to control room temperature, to get energy savings and to avoid overheating and burning problems.

Metal sheath infrared space heaters

Traditional Metal Sheath Infrared HeaterMetal sheath infrared heaters are the most basic and traditional electric space heaters. They can be easily identified by their typical tubular elements, and are rather outdated. There are now more energy-efficient infrared space heaters.

Quartz infrared space heaters

Quartz Space HeaterQuartz tube infrared heaters are made from quartz tubes or quartz lamps. Quartz tube heaters provide a very quick heating, but aren't very energy-efficient or durable.

Quartz lamp space heaters aren't so powerful at heating as quartz tube heaters, but they are more durable and efficient. Though more efficient than metal sheath heaters, they aren't as efficient as the average ceramic space heater.

Ceramic (Infrared) heaters

Ceramic Space Heater, from HolmesCeramic infrared heaters are becoming the most popular type of small space heaters. They come in dozens of models and sizes, and may include dozens of features. They can be cheap, durable, efficient, and safe…
