Home Office Lighting
Home office lighting is based on…
- task lighting: for computer work, reading or writing...
- general lighting: to create comfort and eliminate contrasts
and glare.

Fluorescent
ceiling fixtures
One or two large fluorescent ceiling fixtures is a good common
option for home offices. They allow the general lighting
(eliminating shadows and glare) and substantial energy savings.
To avoid reflections, do not locate the ceiling fixtures in
front of the desk. The light should come over the shoulders of
the desk’s occupant; place the fixtures over head and at points
corresponding to the sides of the desk.
Home Office Cabinets
Use small fluorescent fixtures for closets and credenzas: they
can be mounted close to the front, or inside and above the
cabinets to provide directional lighting…
Decorative elements
To accent pictures, certificates or other home office decorative
elements, you may use recessed
low-voltage lights, or track lighting.
Home
office table
The more common solution in task home office lighting is an
articulated table lamp, able to provide light to the desk and
computer areas (without reflecting its light in the computer).
Use a CFC for energy
savings.
